Marian Gloria (Joseph) Dalkiewicz, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, at Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Shawnee, OK, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Elizabeth A. (George) Joseph. After moving to Wilkes-Barre, Marian graduated in 1948 from Grand Army of the Republic High School.
Marian was devote member of St. Andrews Parish. She was active in various church groups and activities, especially cleaning the church and baking for church bake sales.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished time with her family. She also loved finding a good bargain while shopping.
Marian retired in 1995 from the Department of Labor & Industry, Wilkes-Barre after 31 years of service.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Stanley, who passed away on July 6, 2013, a sister, Freda Doyle, and a niece, Jennifer Digiosa.
Surviving are two loving daughters, Jill Jiunta, Dallas, Betsy Carey, Wilkes-Barre, two loving sons, Charles Carey, Wilkes-Barre, James Carey & his wife, Jolene, Allentown,
6 grandchildren, Collin Jiunta, Jordan Jiunta, Ian Carey, Gavin Carey, Aidan Carey, Heather (Carey) Shamaski, 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Loretta and her husband, Nicholas Punko, Plains, several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will depart on Tuesday, October 3, at 9:00 A.M. from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in St. Andrews Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Duane Gavitt officiating.
Interment will be private in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family & Friends are invited to call on Monday, October 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
