Joseph "Joe" Polombo, Jr.

Joseph “Joe” Polombo, Jr., 82, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, August 18, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 2, 1935, he was a son of the late Joseph Polombo, Sr. and Angeline (Stolfi) Polombo.

Joe was a graduate of the 1955 class from E.L. Meyers High School. In 1957, he married the former Doris Allen, and they shared almost 60 wonderful years together.  Joe was of the catholic faith.

Joe was a hard worker and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He worked as a crew leader for Pennsylvania Gas and Water for 37 years before retiring in 1998.

He was also an avid gardener, planting vegetables, tomatoes and roses. Joe also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and Penn State Football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Polombo and his wife, Rosemarie and a sister, Carolyn Marrow.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Doris (Allen) Polombo; son, Joseph T. “Joe” Polombo III, and wife, Diane; daughters, Linda Konarski and husband, Robert and Susan Watkins and husband, Duane; grandchildren, Karen Sepko and husband, Frankie, Robert Konarski, Jr. and Stacey Watkins and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 4 P.M. – 7 P.M. and Thursday from 9 A.M.- 10 A.M. at the funeral home.
