Charles "Charlie" Bauer

Charles “Charlie” Bauer, 79, of Dallas, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 after a brief illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Anna (Tensa) and Charles Bauer.  Charlie graduated from G. A. R. High School and continued his education at Penn State, Wilkes-Barre.

Charlie was an amazing draftsman; he used his talents to assist anyone who needed his service, always with a smile.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR.  He was a dedicated fan, never missing a Sunday race.

Charlie also had an intense affinity for music.  A skilled player of the keyboard and bass, he was a member of the band “The Contrasts” and entertained crowds at Bill’s Café and Jilly’s for numerous years.

Charlie will not only be remembered for what he did, but how he did it.  He was a man of irreplaceable character.  He had a sharp mind and an exceptionally large heart.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Janice (Cook) Bauer; his sister-in-law, Neva Cook; his sons, Thomas Bauer and his companion Norma Silva, Winnie, TX; Michael Bauer and his wife, Dana, Youngsville, N.C.; James Bauer and his wife, LeeAnn, Harvey’s Lake; daughters Jane Stredny and her husband, Richard, Harvey’s Lake; Neva Gallagher and her husband, Joseph, Pittston; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

A private ceremony will be held for family.  Friends are invited to stop by Bill’s Café, Harvey’s Lake, on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a celebration of Charlie’s life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
