Maureen A. Stevenson, 68, of King of Prussia, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 30, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Merylene (Jackson) Stevenson. While growing up in Wilkes-Barre, she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a 1965 graduate of Lincoln Prep, Philadelphia.
Prior to retiring in 2001, Maureen was employed by United Airlines for 33 years where she worked as an International Flight Attendant at both Newark and LaGuardia Airports. Prior to working at United Airlines, she worked at the Job Corps in White Haven where she enjoyed helping youth.
Maureen served as a Union Representative for United Airlines. She was a member of Lower Marion Library Book Club, King of Prussia, where she served on the committee for Black History Month, hosting various celebrities and activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Left to cherish her memory are her companion of 50 years, LeRoy Spruill; sister Dale Jackson and her husband, Sam Jackson, Lawrenceville, GA; nieces Ashley Jackson, Lawrenceville, GA; Jiavanna Mickens and husband Charles Mickens II, Dacula, GA; great nieces, Zara and Ava Mickens; a host of cousins and close friends.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 17th at First Baptist Church, 48 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Tyrone Thompson, Pastor of Union Baptist Temple, Bridgeton, NJ will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may visit between 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
