Mary Ann (Melosky) Zakar, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday evening at The Gardens at East Mountain.
Born June 10th, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William Melosky and Stephanie (Masavage) Melosky.
She graduated from Misericordia College with her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and also took classes at King’s College for accounting and computer programming.
Mary Ann was employed as a chemist for Merck Chemical Plant, New Jersey and later worked as a laboratory technician at Mercy Hospital until her retirement.
Mary Ann was a talented violin player and enjoyed collecting antique violins. She donated her time to the organization Parents Without Partners, that planned gatherings and parties. She was also a former member of St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity, Park Ave.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Zakar and her brother, Vincent Melosky.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving son, Andrew J. Zakar.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 P.M., from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. , 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Officiating will be Father Verespy.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until the service.
Interment will be private for the family.
