William Newton Obituary

William O. Newton, 60, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away at on Friday, January 3rd, at his home.

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre, on April 29, 1959, he was a son of the late Theodore Baines and Lena (Newton) Taylor.  He graduated from G.A.R. High School and attended Luzerne County Community College.

 

 

Billy retired in 2017 from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility where he worked as a correction officer for many years. He also served as a State Constable.

 

He was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a sister, Sheryle Phillips and two brothers, Ryan Taylor and Carl Newton.

 

Surviving are his four brothers, Allan, Brett and his wife, Martha, Rod and his wife, Emily, Reggie and his fiancé, Jackie, many loving nieces and nephews, his cat, Grayson.

 

A Memorial Service will be conducted in keeping with Billy’s wishes on January 11, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Reverend James Breese, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Pittston, officiating.

 

Friends may call from 2:00 PM till the time of the service at the funeral home.
