William “Billy” Otto John Higgins, 66, of Nuangola, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 8, 1955, he was a son of the late Donald C. and Margaret “Margie” (Mappes) Higgins.
Billy was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and proud of his religious background. One of the things that brought him the most joy was pumpkins, this was his favorite time of year. Anyone that met Billy fell in love with him instantly, his charm and personality will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Donald J. Higgins.
Left to cherish his memory are, nieces and nephews, Kimberly Rose and husband Jason, William “Bill” J. Higgins and wife Laura, Daniel Tolotti, and Amanda Quinn and husband Pat; great nephew and niece, Joshua Kachurick and Jacinda Rose; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Bill Helgemo; sister-in-law, Lorraine Higgins; and several cousins.
The family would like to thank Billy’s beloved caretakers at Step by Step, past and present. They would also like to thank his cousin Amy Janosky for her many years of pumpkin artistry, and cousin Grace Helgemo for being by Billy's side in his final days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1000 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18706. Officiating will be Pastor Joshua DeYoung. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the church. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
