Ruth May Namey

Ruth May Namey, 62, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 13, 1958 she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth May (Hoover) Namey. She graduated from Elmer L. Meyers High School and received her medical training at Jupiter Medical Center, Jupiter, Florida. Ruth May was employed as a phlebotomist for over 25 years at Commonwealth Health, formerly Pittston Medical Associates. She was also employed for over 20 years at King’s College dining services.

She is survived by her sisters, Susan Broody and husband, Michael and Terri Zimmerman and husband, Jeffery; nephew, Robert Zimmerman and wife, Kristina and beloved great nephew, Jack Zimmerman.

Intensely generous and stubborn, Ruth May well learned her father’s habit of never allowing a friend or family member to pay for a shared meal. She shared her love of cooking with those around her and would turn any gathering into a feast. Ruth May will be soulfully missed by many close friends and family.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
