Ronald C. Womelsdorf, Sr., 78, of Wanamie, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
Born in Wanamie on November 1, 1942, he was a son of the late Raymond D. and Thelma (Cavill) Womelsdorf.
Ronald proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Conflict and was employed as a truck driver for over 50 years.
He enjoyed gardening, watching old westerns and going hunting and fishing. Ronald loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Raymond Womelsdorf; sister, Joan Cooper and godfather, Charles Wilkes.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Susan H. (Golanowski) Womelsdorf; sons, Jeffrey V. Womelsdorf and wife, Caroline and their children, Chloe and Raymond Womelsdorf; Edward R. Womelsdorf; brother Edward C Womelsdorf of Watertown,Ct; and Ronald C. Womelsdorf, Jr. and partner, Sherry Powell and children, Jaime Lynn, Jessie Lee, Madison, Britney, Michelle, Teisha, Nevaeh and Ronald C. Womelsdorf, III (Romeo Daylida); daughter, Toni Womelsdorf-Ritchie and husband, Russ and children, Madison and Deserah Womelsdorf-Ritchie; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center for all their kind and compassionate care that was given to Ronald in his time of need.
Prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St. Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may visit from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Interment will be held on Wednesday in Newport Cemetery. Please be at the funeral home by 10:00 AM if attending.
