Robert William Ball, 89, a former resident of Kingston and Highland Park Senior Living, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stillwater.
Born in Locke, New York on December 21, 1931, he was a son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Minturn) Ball.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a Specialist 5th Class after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a Purple Heart recipient. After retiring from the Army, he owned and operated Standard Washer and Dryer Repair.
Robert was a member of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 283, Masonic Lodge #474 F&AM; Irem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S where he was a strutter in the String Band. He was a life member of Columbian Volunteer Fire Department, Kingston, and a proud member and former officer of the Korean War Vets of Luzerne County. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Joan C. Knops; brothers, David Ball, Clayton Arthur Ball and his wife, Priscilla and Carl Ball and his wife, Cindee, all of New York; sister, Alice Tracy and her husband, Bruce of New York; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Pastor Adam Demetros officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
