Richard Steinbacher Obituary

Richard Lee Steinbacher of Drums, PA died on May 19, 2023 at the age of 78.   He was born in Williamsport, PA in 1944 and grew up there and in Wilkes Barre PA. He was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School and Kings College, class of 1966, both of Wilkes Barre. Upon graduation he joined the firm of Haskin and Sells, CPA’s, now Deloitte & Touche, in New York City, where he spent 13 years as an auditor and consultant. He became a CPA in 1970. Thereafter, he spent the next 23 years employed as the Chief Financial Officer or Senior Vice President, Finance at two New York City Teaching Hospitals. He concluded his professional career of 44 years as a healthcare financial consultant and retired in 2009.  

He was a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and he has the hats and jerseys to prove it.

He is survived by his wonderful ex-wife Lorraine Steinbacher of Drums, PA and by three beloved children; Lorri Steinbacher (Michael) of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Lynn Schmitt (Larry) of Gaylordsville, CT and Richard L. Steinbacher, Jr. (Claudia) of Moseley, VA and four grandchildren; Matthew Sticco, Dylan Schmitt, and Olivia and Alexander Lee Steinbacher and two grandchildren by proxy; Michel Abell (Deceased) and Dana Getka. He also is survived by a sister, Clementine Coledo of Wilkes-Barre, PA and a brother, Gary Steinbacher of Boyertown, PA.

 His parents, Richard Herman and Eleanor Steinbacher, preceded him in death.

Services are private. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Wilkes Barre on a yet to be determined date.
