Dr. Richard Job Aston, 86, of Wilkes-Barre PA passed away on July 31, 2023.
Richard was the son of the late Job Aston and May Healy Aston.
Richard attended E.L. Meyers High School. He served Honorably in the U.S. Navy. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Wilkes College, his Master’s Degree from Penn State University and his PhD from Ohio State University.
Richard spent the majority of his career as a professor of Biomedical Engineering at Wilkes College, Penn State University and Tennessee State University. Richard volunteered with Project Hope and spent time in Egypt and Honduras.
Richard was very active in his church, Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, with his choral society and his poetry groups. He was very proud to live in the home his father personally built, and of the many buildings his family’s company, Aston Brothers Construction Company, laid the masonry for including E.L. Meyers High School and The Luzerne County Courthouse.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Marcia Aston, his parents, Job and May Aston, his brother Jon Aston, his sisters, Ruth Hungarter and Cathy Swan, and his niece Megan Kinsman.
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Kinsman, his children Mark Aston, Joan Liut and Deborah Aston, and his grandchildren Thomas, Mary, Michael, Clara and Peter Liut, and Caroline and Hannah Eleoterio.
A viewing will be held at Kniffen O’Malley Leffer Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 South Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA on Friday August 11 from 10 AM till time of the service.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Am with Rev. Adam M. Demetros, of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township.
