Regina R. Bartish, 94, of Avoca, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.

Born in Avoca on October 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Pauline (Zarkowski) Bartush. Regina graduated from Avoca High School class of 1943 and Broome Community College, Binghamton, NY., where she also served as an instructor.  

Regina was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish, Avoca and also a member of the former Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Avoca. She was very active and dedicated to the church, where she served as a Pastoral Assistant and was responsible for closing and locking the doors on the church’s final day.

She was a Registered Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray) and was employed by Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital for 25 years, where she was honored with the “Lourdes Hospital Outstanding Employee Award” in 1964. Regina served as Chief Radiologist at Lourdes Hospital. She was instrumental in instituting the School of Radiologic Technology training program at Lourdes Hospital. After the first class graduated, the program was moved to Broome Community College. Regina was also employed at Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.

Regina held life memberships in the Triple Cities Radiologic Technologic Society, the New York State Society of Radiologic Sciences, Inc. and was also a life member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. She also served as Queen Mother of The Pleasant Valley Girls of The Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, John, Anthony, Andrew and Edwin Bartush and sisters, Helen Voyack and Josephine Massakowski.

She is survived by sisters, Louise Bartos, Avoca and Joan Voyack, Wellsville and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with Father Sladicka officiating.

Family and friends may visit at the church from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Moosic.
