Patrick J Hannon

Patrick J. Hannon, 80, of Avoca, formerly of Kingston, passed away on Saturday morning, April 9, 2022, at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton.

Born in Avoca on November 25, 1941, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Bradbury) Hannon. He graduated from Avoca High School in 1959.

Patrick was a former member of St. Casimir Church, Lyndwood and St. Ignatius, Kingston, until he became ill and returned to his hometown and attended his home parish, Queen of the Apostles. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving for 3 years as a communications specialist during the Vietnam War. Patrick spent over 40 years in the insurance business working for Prudential and Erie Insurance. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Mary Alice Hillard Hannon; 4 brothers, John, Jerome, Francis, and Joseph Hannon; and a sister, Jane Ann Hannon.

Patrick is survived by a son, Patrick T. Hannon and his wife, Erin, Dallas; daughters, Ellen Hannon and her companion, Shane Crossin, Avoca, Christine Hannon and her companion, Shane Ringler, Avoca; grandchildren, Emily, Nora, and Jane Hannon; brothers, Kenneth Hannon, Washington, DC., William Hannon, Hanover Twp., and Michael Hannon, Avoca; sisters, Mary Burke, Laurel, MD., and Barbara Evans, Justus, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Queen of the Apostles Church, 715 Hawthorne St. Avoca, at 11:00 AM, with Father Phillip J. Sladika officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 Main Street Avoca, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Judes Children's Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
