Norman Bordley Sr., 81, formerly of Trucksville, passed away on June 3, 2021, at Meadows Nursing Home, Dallas, PA.
Born in Marydel, MD, on March 14, 1940, He was a son of the late Ralph Bordley Sr., and Elsie (Dickerson) Bordley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah L. (Quail) Bordley, a son; Levar Lee Bordely, Brothers; Alvin Bordley, Kenneth Bordley-Teat, James Teat, and a sister; Mary Teat.
Prior to his retirement as a prison guard at SCI Dallas, as well as other SCI Locations, Norman was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam war and continued serve his country for over 28 years. He was part of the 82nd Airborne Division (Airborne for Life). He was also a very well-known and appreciated army recruiter. Norman loved to fish and watch sports, especially baseball, which he played semi-professionally for many years ago. He was also a long time member of American Legion Post 673, Ashley.
Norman is survived by a son, Norman Bordley Jr., Wilkes-Barre, daughters; Sharon E. Bordley, Trucksville, Norma C. Lane (Duane), Reidsville, NC, grandchildren; Cory Gallant, Krystal R. Bordley, Norman Bordley III, Shamalaia Thomas, Niya C. Bordley, Tavares Jones, Janiika Adams, great-grand child, Laia Williams, brothers; Ralph Bordley, Martin Teat, Randolph Teat, sisters; Jaquline Hines, Frances Bordley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Going home services and military honors will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at the Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral home, 465 S. Main Street Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. The Rev. James H. Breese will officiate.
Friends may call from 9:00AM until the time of services.
Interment will follow at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
