Mary Ellen Kitzmiller

Mary Ellen (Pugh) Kitzmiller, 69, passed away July 20, 2023, Wilkes-Barre at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born on August 20, 1953 in Wilkes-Barre PA, she was a daughter of Charles and Amelia (McElwee) Pugh.

Mary was an absolute animal lover. She loved nothing more than feeding the birds and squirrels. She also loved disco music, especially the Bee Gees, and spent her time enjoying shows about the paranormal. She was an Avid Washington Redskins fan and always voiced her opinion and made her presence known. Mary graduated from Hanover High School in 1972, and she went on to work as a Lab Clerk at Mercy Hospital for over 30 years. Most recently since retiring, she was employed at Bedwick & Jones Printing. She is remembered fondly by all who know her, and she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her loving husband of 46 years, James (Jim) E. Kitzmiller, Mary is survived by daughters, Pamela J. Jones & husband Scott, Tammy L. Cruser & husband Ken; grandchildren, Michael Deutsch-Jones & Xander Jones; brother, William (Bill) Pugh & wife Mary; sisters, Shirley Noonan & husband John, Diane Duca, Joan Sistrunk, Patricia Sabecky; sister-in-law, Sarah Ann Pugh; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is predeceased by both parents, Charles & Amelia (McElwee) Pugh; brothers, Charles & James (Jim) Pugh; as well as a sister, Sarah (Sally) Pavone.

She was also the “Grandmother” for 20 exchange students, from all over the world in the Jones international family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. A celebration of life will be held in her honor privately. Her final resting place will be at Oaklawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
