Margaret A. "Peggy" Hodgson, 97, of Brooks Estates, Pittston, formerly of Wilkes-Barre and Back Mountain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston.
A daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Cochran) Ashman, she was born on June 9, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Margaret graduated from Meyers High School in 1943 and attended Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington) in Fredericksburg, VA.
Margaret worked outside the home for many years as a medical secretary. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, singing in the church choir, and attending events at the Irem Country Club in Dallas, PA with her husband, Duke. Margaret was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ashman Corder, and her husband, Rev. William L. Corder; a brother, Robert C. Ashman; a sister-in-law, Rita (Hodgson) Duffy; and a nephew, Edmond Duffy.
Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ralph F. Hodgson, Sr. and son, Ralph F. Hodgson, Jr.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Gregory of Newtown, PA; Michael and his wife, Leah, of Washington Crossing, PA; and Julie and her husband, Joseph Brazzi, of New York City, NY; four great grandchildren, Harper, Madelynn, Raegan and Cameron; and a nephew, Richard Duffy and his wife, Charlotte, of Rehoboth Beach, DE. Margaret will be sadly missed by her family, but they find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband and son.
Her family will honor her life in a private service. Interment will be at Laurel Cemetery in White Haven, PA.
