Karen S. (Poli) Willis, 72, of Laurel Run, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilkes Barre on March 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late David and Hilda (Angeli) Poli.
Karen graduated from Wilkes University with her Bachelor's degree in the Arts. In her early years, she was an equestrian, with her horse "Thee Day". She married her best friend and the love of her life, George, in 1978. Together they raised 3 talented children. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a retired art teacher for Wilkes Barre Twp. Jr. High School. During her time as a teacher, she was a driving force bringing boys soccer to G.A.R. school district. She attended classes at Penn State, becoming a Master Gardener, caring for her over 150 orchids. She was also a former cub scouts den mother She later became an assistant activities coordinator at River Street Manor. Karen will be sadly missed but greatly remembered for the strong, amazing woman she was.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Grace Willis.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 43 years, George J. Willis Jr.; sons, George J. Willis III, Wilkes Barre, Geoffrey Willis (Donna), Warrior-Run; daughter, Kate Lapinski (Aleks), New Tripoli; grandchildren, Ava Willis, Luke Willis, Natalie Willis, Nathanial Lapinski, and another baby boy Lapinski on the way; a brother, David Poli (Karen), NJ.
As per Karen's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements were entrusted to Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Wilkes Barre.
