Joan (Knops) Ball, 90, a former resident of Kingston, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 under the care of Residential Hospice and the staff of Highland Park Senior Living, where she resided.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 14, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Hazel (Hirlinger) Knops.
Joan graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1951, completed two years at Wilkes College and together with her late husband, Bob, owned and operated Standard Washer and Dryer Repair.
She was an active member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She was most recently a member of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church.
Joan was a member of the Wyoming Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star and was Past Matron of the former Wilkes-Barre Chapter #90 Order of the Eastern Star. She also served as an organist for many Chapters. She also volunteered for many years at Wyoming Valley Hospital, served as Past President of Irem Woman’s Auxiliary and was also a member of the Wyoming Valley Women’s Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert William Ball and sister, Charlotte Kane.
She is survived by brothers-in-law, David Ball, Clayton Arthur Ball and his wife, Priscilla and Carl Ball and his wife, Cindee, all of New York; sister-in-law, Alice Tracy and her husband, Bruce of New York; a niece, Barbara of Delaware; great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. Eastern Star services will be held at 10:15.
