Betty Jane “Elizabeth” (Albosta) Novak, 88, of Avoca, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at her home.

Born in Avoca on December 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Krzyscin) Albosta. Betty Jane was raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Catherine Krzyscin and devoted aunt, Edna (Krzyscin) Snopkowski. Betty Jane was a member of Queen of the Apostles Church, Avoca and formerly attended Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. She was active in the Alter and Rosary Society, known for her management of the pierogi sale.

Betty Jane enjoyed working in the family business, the former Krzyscin’s Market, Avoca, and then became a devoted mother and grandmother, participating in countless school and club events.

Betty Jane was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and working in her garden. She was especially proud of her roses and lawn ornaments. Betty Jane was a stamp collector who instilled a love of that hobby in her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Novak, Sr.

Betty Jane is survived by sons, Henry Novak, Jr. and Richard Novak and wife, Cindy; daughter, Marybeth Novak; grandchildren, Dr. David Dudzinski and wife, Dr. Cara Lund, Brian Dudzinski and wife, Colleen, Leah Parduski and husband, John, Anthony Novak and wife, Bree, and Amy Novak and companion, Michael Adams; great grandchildren, Caroline, David Jr., William, Jase, and Kaylee Grace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in Queen of the Apostles Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Father Phillip Sladicka officiating and Monsignor Alexander Kulik concelebrating. Please go directly to the church if attending the mass.

Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moosic.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Avoca.
