Obituary

Edith Hettig, 87, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at The Gardens at Wyoming Valley. 

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Ruth (Groper) Hettig.  She was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and was of the Lutheran faith. 

 

Edith was formerly employed by the Woodbury Dress Factory, Wilkes-Barre. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Sebastian Vitale, Sr.; step-son Bernard and several brothers and sisters. 

 

Surviving are her step-sons, Sebastian Vitale, Jr., and wife, Jenny; Gerald and Phillip Vitale; step-daughters, Gloria and Julie, numerous step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren.

 
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Thursday, April 20th, at Noon at Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with The Reverend Timothy Alleman, of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre.
