Doloras Myers Obituary

Doloras Myres, 69, of Wilkes Barre, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at home

Born March 11, 1953, in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Zeller Myres.

Her bright eyes always stood out from the rest, that in late 1953, she had an honorable mention from Gerber’s for being the most beautiful baby. Growing up in Jamaica Queen’s,
Inwood Street. Doloras attended P.S. 160 Queens elementary, Shimer Middle School, John Adams High School, and York College as a music major.

She found her love for music in Middle School where She played flute and the piccolo. in later years, she dabbled with playing the guitar, bongos, drums, and anything else she could bang on. From high school, she worked 37 years as a workmen’s compensation and benefit claims agent at the Arch Diocese Of New York Hospitals.

At the age of 12, Christ was introduced into her life at Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, where she served on the Junior usher board. Her love for the lord never wavered, no matter what. He was first and foremost in her life. Prior to moving to Wilkes-Barre, Brooklyn Tabernacle Church was her church home church. Doloras was most active in service at the annual BBQ gatherings, food drives and holiday plays, where she shined the most.

Always the greatest, animated, detailed story teller, she knew how to grab you and captivate you with her words and body language. She was never ashamed about praising her God, sharing the word, or praying where ever you are. Doloras loved meeting people and learning to gain knowledge, hence the term for her, love thy neighbor. She was an activist for the people whether they liked it or not she loved her community.

Living in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she continued serving the lord at Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved serving and contributing her time and energy in food prep and talking classes that would elevate her knowledge of God.. You may not have known us, but we knew you and maybe your family through the mountains of pictures and stories. You were her show and tell. She mended and blended two families, and we are honored to be a part of your church home.

Left to cherish her memory are brother, Robert Ryans, Harold Ryan; sister, Cathy Myres, Grociella Myres, and Skyler Myres; a host of nieces and nephews; several cousins.

A home going service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at Mount Zion Baptist Church 105 Hill St. Wilkes Barre, PA 18702.
