William “Bill” D. Evans, Jr., 67, of Hanover Township, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born March 10, 1950 in Wilkes-Barre, to the late William D. Evans, Sr. and Frances A. (Decker) Evans.

After high school, Bill served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam Era on the USS Farragut. He was a member of the American Legion Post 609, Lee Park. Bill worked for S.C.I. Dallas for over 27 years before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle Church in Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John William Evans, who passed away on January 15, 2013 and a grandson, Anthony Sylvester Gennusa, who passed away on May 18, 2015.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Linda C. (Holton) Evans, a son, Christopher James and his wife, Heather Evans, Sweet Valley, a daughter-in-law, Tara (Trzcinski) Evans, Hanover Township, two grandsons, Zackery John Evans and Nicholas Michael Evans, two granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Evans and Madison M. Zamsky, sister, Marjorie Evans-Culp, Shavertown, his best buddy and lifelong friend John Tudgay, Swoyersville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services with Honors for William will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street Wilkes-Barre with Reverend Richard McIntyre Officiating.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund at 382 Pierce St. Kingston, PA 18704.
