Virginia Chwastyk, 64, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital.

Born on September 3, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Sophie (Vankevich) Chwastyk.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by brother, Michael Chwastyk II; and sister, Rose Ann Meinecke.

Virginia, or V, as many called her, was employed at Social Security Administration for over 40 years. V was a very kind-hearted and generous person with a strong passion for hand-made craft items.  She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, watching hockey and rooting for her favorite football team the Eagles.

Surviving to cherish Virginia’s memory is sister, Kathleen Chwastyk; aunt, Helen Tanski; nieces, Marissa Loftus, Michele Williams; nephews, Michael Chwastyk III, Gregory Meinecke, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held on December 26 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, from 3-5PM, with a 5PM service officiated by Father Cirba. Interment will be on December 27 at 11AM, at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
