Urcella (Johnson) Wright

Urcella (Johnson) Wright, 93, of New Rochelle, NY, formerly of Wilkes-Barre and Edwardsville, PA passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at United Hebrew Nursing Center, New Rochelle, NY.

Born in Green Cove Springs, FL on September 13, 1922, she was a daughter of the late William and Ealia (Williams) Johnson.  She attended Coughlin and G.A.R. High Schools.

In 1955, she graduated from nursing school and went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse at New York Medical Center in New York City.  She moved back to the Wilkes-Barre area in 1973.

Mrs. Wright was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Osborne “Ozzie” Wright, who passed away on April 12, 2007; a son, Robert “Robbie” Wright and several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Osborne “Skip” Wright, Mamaroneck, NY; foster son, Arnold O’Neal, White Plains, NY; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild ; a sister, Lula Henson, Edwardsville, PA; several nieces and nephews.

Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, February 27th, 2016 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Repass at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA.
