Theresa M. Mitchell, 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital in Plains Township, Pennsylvania.
Theresa was born in Trinidad and later made her home in Brooklyn, New York, where she spent many years surrounded by family, culture, and community. In her later years, she lived in Plains Township for a short time, though Trinidad always remained close to her heart.
Theresa was a loving and vibrant woman whose personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Anyone who came in contact with her couldn’t help but smile. She had a way of making people laugh and creating happy, funny, and unforgettable memories. She had a one-of-a-kind personality and was deeply loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert; her sister, Philipa; and her brother, Felix.
Theresa is survived by her loving daughter, Wendy-Anne Peña; her grandchildren, Derron, Shivonne, and Shayann; her niece, Kim; and her five great-grandchildren, Saryah, Sydney, Shanell, Sophia, and Noah. She is also survived by many other family members and loved ones who will continue to cherish her memory.
Theresa was a tough cookie, but truly special. She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words. She will forever remain in our hearts.
