Shirley T. (Mitchell) Jackson

Shirley T. Jackson, 74, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Bobby Lee and Annie Mae (Williams) Mitchell. Shirley was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. She loved to bowl, read, and play the slot machines at the casino.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by two sisters, Emma and Maryann, and three brothers, Frank, Robert, and Walter Mitchell.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Jimmie L. Jackson, three daughters, Cynthia Jackson, Bradenton, FL; Deborah King-Luke, Chester, VA; and Geraldine Avery, Hanover Township., three grandchildren, Nicole, T.J., and Nigel, two sisters, twins, Evelyn Lynette, and Evelyn Lynell, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were private at the convenience of the family.

A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held at a later date.
