Shirley M. (Edwards) Meeker

Shirley M. (Edwards) Meeker, 92, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at River View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 12, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Clara (Gribble) Edwards.

She was a graduate of the class of 1949 from G.A.R High School. Shirley worked as an Accounts Receivable Clerk for Nabisco for 17 ½ years prior to retiring in 1990. She then went on to work at the Bonton.  She was also a faithful member of Welsh Bethel Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Meeker; son, William R. Meeker; siblings, Clara E. Sims, Eugene Edwards, Harry J. Edwards, Ann Davies, Leroy W. Edwards and two infant brothers.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Diane L. Compton and husband, Albert, Exeter; son, Robert D. Meeker and significant other, Bonnie Davis, Dallas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be Pastor Hartshorne. Interment will follow in Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.

Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
