Sarah Jane Loomis

Sarah Jane (Long) Loomis, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on July 4, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in South Philadelphia on March 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (McKenna) Long.

After graduating high school, Sarah dedicated her life staying at home and raising her 4 children who brought her great joy. Sarah loved to volunteer and help those in need. She was a frequent volunteer with the Girl Scouts, Red Cross, St. Judes, the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO), and many more organizations where she was often recognized for her dedication. In her free time, she loves to spend quality time with friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Gerry Schandl and Maria “Ria” Boyle; brother Sam Long; and grandson, Mikey Moyer.

Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, George Loomis, Bob Loomis, and Richard Loomis; daughter, Geri Moyer; her beloved partner of 27 years, Ed Barney; grandchildren, Vincent Loomis, Susanne Bonk, Caralyn Matz, Shannon Loomis, Ricky Loomis, Madelyn Loomis, Donny Moyer, Richie Moyer, Tabatha Baker, Tammy Bauman, Ashley Pollaro, and Gary Mark; as well as a host of great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

Private cremation services have been entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Wilkes-Barre.
