Robert Joseph Halagarda, 67, of Plymouth Township, formerly of Avoca, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at home, with the love of his life and best friend, Cathy Torchia, by his side.

Born in Kingston on April 2, 1959, he was the son of the late Stanley Halagarda and Janet M. (Cather) Halagarda Zelinski. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and Johnson College of Technology. Prior to retiring, Robert was employed by Lockheed Martin at the Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he was a dedicated employee for many years.

In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and sportsman who appreciated the outdoors and the beauty of nature. As the years went on, his love for wildlife continued through bird watching, a hobby that brought him much happiness and peace. He also found great enjoyment in listening to music of all kinds and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs.

Whether you knew him as “Bobby” or “Robbie,” he will be remembered for his big laugh, his equally big personality, and the genuine kindness he showed to those around him. He had a deep love for God and a strong knowledge of the Bible that guided his life and beliefs. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and sportsman who appreciated the outdoors and the beauty of nature. As the years went on, his love for wildlife continued through bird watching, a hobby that brought him much happiness and peace. He also found great enjoyment in listening to music of all kinds and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs. He shared a special bond with his beloved cats, Betty and Smidgen, who brought him comfort and companionship.

Left to cherish his memory are his companion of 13 years, Cathy Torchia; brother Gary Halagarda and his wife, Linda, of Avoca; step-siblings Rebecca Munley and her husband, Jack, Cheryl Arnold and her husband, Rick, and Robert Zelinski, Jr. and his wife, Amy; nephew, Collin Halagarda; niece, Hailey Halagarda; and several step-nieces and step-nephews.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2026, at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca. A prayer service will follow at 6:30 p.m.
