WILKES-BARRE-Richard Michael Powell, Sr. "Mr. Stubbs", 70, of West Nanticoke, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 23, 2014 with his wife, daughter and son-in-law by his side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 18, 1943, he was a son of the late Paul Sr. and Margaret (Leco) Powell.
Richard graduated from G.A.R. High School. He worked as a maintenance supervisor and retired from JCC, Wilkes-Barre, in 2000.
He was a jack of all trades and was known to many as Mr. Fixit. He was a unique, caring and big hearted man, who was dear to many hearts and will be greatly missed .
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Jr. and Frank Powell.
Left to cherish his memory are, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Nancy Corrinia (Ebert) Powell, sons; Richard Jr., Gary W. and George Powell and wife, Mary, daughter; Tracy Powell Wielgopolski and husband, Joseph; loving grandchildren, Corrinia Marie and AJ Bonk, Sarah, Teresa, Georgie and Brianna Powell and Samantha Powell-King; Sister, Marjorie Sarvis, FL and brothers, Samuel Powell, DE and Bill Powell, DE.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main St, Wilkes-Barre.
