Raymond, affectionately known as “Junie”, was a kind caring man, who cared very deeply for his family. He touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and compassionate heart.
Raymond Everette Strother Jr. of Wilkes Barre, passed away on December 17th, 2024, at the age of 51. Born on August 21, 1973, in Bronx NY, to Raymond E. Strother Sr. and Jo-Ann Batts.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melissa (Kern) Strother, Maternal Grandmother Cecelia Buck, Paternal Grandmother Mary Strother and Brother-in-law, Robert Larry Stewart.
A member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Raymond lived a life of service and dedication to his family. Raymond graduated from Meyers High School in Wilkes Barre. He was employed by Kings College as a security guard for many years. His proudest and most cherished role was as a supportive and loving father to his two sons Chase and Trent Strother. Raymond could always be found cheering on his son in his semi-professional football games, and his pride in his children was evident to all who knew him. In his leisure time, Raymond enjoyed watching sports and playing video games, finding joy in these simple pleasures.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Chase and Trent Strother; parents, Raymond E. Strother Sr. and Jo-Ann Batts; brothers, Edward Batts (Judies Batts), Edwin Whittaker; sister, Michelle Strother; Granddaughter, Melissa Rose Strother. Nieces; Chanda Stewart, Chasity Strother, and Sophia Stewart; Nephews; Robert Strother, Edwin Whittaker Jr. Jayvienn, Sani, and Junior Martin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Funeral services will be held immediately afterwards with Pastor Michael E. Brewster officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
Raymond's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, support, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him.
