Peter Calimeres, 81, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Levidi, Arkadias, Greece on July 7, 1934, he was a son of the late Haralambos and Christina (Kalimanis) Calimeres.
Peter was a life member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and he held close to authentic Greek traditions.
He worked for many years as a donut shop baker.
He enjoyed gardening, grocery shopping and traveling to Greece with his wife, Georgia.
Providing for his family was his number one priority,
Peter’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He would do everything for others and he will be remembered for his good heart and generosity.
He was preceded in death by; a sister, Fotini Tsioles, two brother in laws, John Koukoltsios and Spiros Valianatos.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Georgia (Vlahos) Calimeres, two loving sons, Harry and his wife, Natalia, Wyoming, Chris, Wyoming, two grandchildren, Georgia and Peter, two sisters, Harriet Koukoltsios, Wyoming & Ioanna Valianatos, Greece, a brother, George Calimeres, Kingston, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Trisagion Service will be held at 5:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with services at 11:00 AM in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 32 Ross Street, Wilkes-Barre. Father Gabriel Nicholas will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
