Patricia Ann Carey

Patricia Ann (Seeley) Carey, 92, a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on September 6, 2026.

Born January 27, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Heacock) Seeley. Patricia was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1951, and remained in the Wilkes-Barre area throughout her life.

Patricia met Raymond Carey after high school, and they were married in November 1953. Together they raised four children and built a family that would grow through several generations.

Family was always an important part of Patricia’s life. So was laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh that could brighten a room. She enjoyed comedy, loved to laugh, and brought a lightness to the people around her. Her warmth and laughter are among the things her family will remember most.

Surviving are her children, Beth Ann Carey DeVrieze; Jason Raymond Carey; David Raymond Carey and his wife, Jennifer; and Daniel Raymond Carey and his wife, Darla.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jessica (Martin) Fieldhouse] and husband Stephen; Aaron Martin and wife Devon; Sarah (Martin) Yost and husband Joshua; Rachel (Martin) Gromala and husband Andrew; Harry DeVrieze; Hannah DeVrieze; Timothy Pacewicz; Brian Carey and wife, Stephanie; Scott Carey and wife, Nancy; Christopher Carey and wife, Kate; Wren (Carey) Bailey and husband, Joseph; Lauren (Carey) Robinson and husband, Russ; and John Carey and wife, Natalie; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Raymond Carey, and her sister, Betty Jane (Seeley) Moore.

Patricia lived a long life, all of it rooted in Wilkes-Barre. She saw a great deal change over the course of 92 years, but family remained constant.

A private prayer service will be held at the convenience of the family, officiated by Monsignor David Tressler, with interment to follow in Albert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Patricia’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She will be deeply missed by those who loved her and remembered for the love she gave her family, her warmth, and that infectious laugh.
