Muriel J. (Piatt) Siegel

Muriel J. (Piatt) Siegel, 105, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born in Askam, on April 30, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Lochiel (Keithline) Piatt.

She graduated in 1938 from Shenandoah Valley Academy, New Market, VA, which was a great accomplishment for her.

Muriel was a devoted lifelong member of the Wyoming Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she held many offices, including the children’s department and Church Treasurer for over 25 years. Muriel guided and inspired many lives during her time at the church.

Muriel worked over 20 years at American Auto Store in Wilkes-Barre, until they closed and then various other businesses doing accounting and secretarial work.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, August Z. Siegel.

She is survived by her great niece, Cathy Mekeel; great nephew, Robert Mekeel; cousins, Linda Gregory, Debra Agnew and Cheryl Achey and cousin-in-law, Helen Hagenbaugh.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center for the outstanding care Muriel received.

Private funeral services were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services.
