Maureen Flis

Surrounded by her loving family, Maureen Ann (Shea) Flis of Plainsville, PA, passed away into the arms of our loving Lord and Savior on Tuesday March 27, 2018.  Maureen was born in Wilkes-Barre on September 17, 1955.  She is the daughter of Arlene (Goman) Shea and the late Donald Shea.

Maureen attended G.A.R Memorial High School.  She was a woman with a heart whose love knew no bounds.  Her work ethic was like no other and she took pride in all she did.  Whether giving her time helping someone in need or simply taking time to sit with a friend to offer much welcomed advice and comfort, she always gave as much of herself to benefit others as she had.  Her love for her children and grandchildren was immense and they adored her as well.  Our only solice comes in knowing that she is now in the company of her husband, Zigmund Michael Flis.

With her contagious laugh she brought light into every room she entered and anyone in her presence knew that she accepted them and appreciated their time and abilities.  Her wit, sense of humor, selfless actions, strength and willingness to give of herself are an unmatched combination that all should strive to achieve.

Surviving along with her mother, Arlene Shea, is her daughter, Jennifer Willis; son, Patrick Flis; and his wife, Chasity;  daughter, Shannon Stewart; son, Ziggy Flis and Nicole Palmer;  grandchildren, Dylan and Hailey Flis  Hannah Stewart and Noelle Flis; brother, Hubert;  sisters, Donna Arlene, Sharon and Linda.  Numerous nieces and nephews; dear friend and sister-in-law, Carol Flis,; as well as Maureen's beloved dog, Harley; also survive.

F uneral services for Maureen will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am from Kniffen O' Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services Inc.  465 South Main Street Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am in St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, 134 South Washington St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.  Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.  Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the name of Maureen Flis to Little Eric's Foundation P.O. Box 1004, Pittston PA 18640.
