Mary Ellen (Mitchell) Stankiewicz, 95, of Ashley, passed away  Monday, February 12, 2024 at her home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 12, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. Mitchell and Nina Hoffman.

Mary Ellen was a homemaker and liked keeping her house clean.  She enjoyed dogs and birds and going for walks.

She was the owner of the former Mary Ellen’s Bar in Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Steve Maskowski, Sr.; her second husband, Zigmund “Ziggy” Stankiewicz; daughter Susan Terescavage; brothers Earl, Edward, Charles and Robert; sisters Helen & Margaret.

Surviving are her sons, Steve Maskowski, Jr. and his wife, Gail, Minnesota; Daniel Maskowski, Scranton and Earl Maskowski and his wife, Kim, Wilkes-Barre; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024  at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Pastor Rodney Murphy of Faith Assembly of God, Hazelton will officiate.  Friends may call Friday from 3 to 4 p.m.   Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
