Mary P. (Doran) Russo

Mary P. Russo, 83, a lifelong resident of Duryea, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Duryea, on May 9, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Doran and Marrion (Mallon) Doran Ross. Mary was employed in the local garment industry since her teen years.

Mary was a member of Nativity of Our Lord at Holy Rosary Church, Duryea and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She also served as Judge of Elections 3rd ward, Duryea. Mary loved spending time with her family and watching soap operas.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Patricia Babkowski and husband, Joseph S., Avoca, Mary C. Russo, Duryea, Sarah Kuzynski and husband, Robert J., Pittston, Sandra Jo Schwartz and husband, Ronald, Jenkins Twp. and Ann Russo, Avoca; grandchildren, Shannon Tramontana, Jennifer and Joseph G. Babkowski, Robert Kuzynski, Julia Slater, Ronald J. Schwartz and Emily Vandermark, Nathaniel and Joshua Russo; great grandchildren, Landon and Paige Wheeler and Autumn Vandermark; brother, Henry “Sonny” Doran, Duryea; sisters, Christine Anderson, SC and Frances Sworen, Moosic; first cousin and best friend, Margaret Selden and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29 at 10:00 AM at Nativity of Our Lord at Holy Rosary, 127 Stephenson St. Duryea. Calling hours will be from 9:30 AM- 10:00 AM at church. Officiating will be Father Michael Bryant. Arrangements were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Avoca.
