Listen to Obituary

Martha J. (Strobel) Borosky, 80, of Plains, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on September 2, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John and May (Evans) Strobel.

Martha loved music. As a child she learned how to play the piano and organ. She was a member of the First Welsh Presbyterian Church and then the Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church.  She had perfect pitch, a trait she passed on to her granddaughter. Her granddaughter Katie was the light of her life. She loved attending all of her musical performances, dances, and plays. She served her church as an elder, trustee, and deacon. She was also the chairperson for their annual Gymanfu Ganu for many years and was proud of her Welsh heritage. She loved attending numerous Welsh events.

She was very active with her high school reunion committee for the GAR class of 1960. Martha had a love for books and was always exploring the local libraries. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. “To be born Welsh is not to born privileged. Not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but music in your heart, and poetry in the soul.” A memorial service will be planned at a future date.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Strobel.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph T. Borosky; sons, Scot Borosky and wife, Kristen and Jeffrey Borosky and wife, Jeanette; granddaughter, Katlynne May and nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services.
