Marion A. (Reed) Weitz, 93, formerly of Pittston, passed away Saturday, December 15th, at ManorCare, Kingston. Born in West Avoca on October 8th, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Patterson) Reed. She graduated from Avoca High School and was later employed as a cook by Lehigh Valley Railroad and Wesley Village. Marion was a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca and also attended the Pittston Senior Center, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Dupont, the Red Hat Society and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Marion enjoyed cooking, baking and crafts of all kinds and was also an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William F. Weitz, son, Richard L. Weitz, sister, Clara Kelly and brothers, Charles, William and John Reed. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Marlene Bailey and husband, David, Priscilla Kobeski and husband, Richard; son, William F. Weitz, III; grandchildren, Dietrick Weitz, David Weitz and wife, Roni, Laura Kobeski and Reyna Young and husband, Anthony; 4 great grandchildren; brother, James Reed and several nieces and nephews. The Family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Manor Care Health Services, Kingston for their kind and loving care. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services. 728 Main St. Avoca. Officiating will be Reverend Carol Coleman. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until the service. Interment will follow in Memorial Shrine Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.kniffenfuneralhome.com
