Maria Tuturas, 65, passed away on December 20, 2024.
Maria was born on April 18, 1959, to Mihai and Maria Selever in Remeti, Romania. After graduating from high school, Maria got married and came to the United States in 1981 and made it her permanent residence.
Maria went on to have two children, John and Diana.
On December 7, 1996, Maria got baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Maria was passionate about sharing her faith with others and in 1998 she became a full-time evangelizer. She spent the rest of her life engaging in the full-time ministry helping others to learn about our creator Jehovah God and the Bible’s promises for a better world. Maria was an exceptional knitter and crocheter and she loved making sweaters, hats, scarfs and blankets for people.
Known for her unique personality and boisterous laugh, Maria will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Maria’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her son, John (Yolanda) Tuturas, daughter, Diana (Gabriel) Perri, and a multitude of family.
Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1240 Scott Street, Wilkes Barre, PA 18705 on December 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm (EST). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses at https://donate.jw.org/en/USA/home.
