Lucille Elizabeth Weghorst

Lucille (Schmidt) Weghorst, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away on November 4, 2026, at the age of 101.

She was the wife of the late Earnest (Gene) Weghorst.

She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Cornel Weghorst; daughter, Denise Kolanda, grandson, Eric Weghorst, and great grandson Devin Weghorst.

Surviving is son, Dean (Alice) Weghorst of Wilkes-Barre, PA; daughter, Dawn (James) Wolfe of McLean, VA; grandchildren Jason Wolfe, Tracy Samick, LeaAnne Gates, Ryan Kolanda, Brad Weghorst, and Chandra Masimore; 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Added to these are several bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lucille was born November 23, 1924, in Pekin, IL to Edward and Lena Schmidt. She had one sister, the late Arlene (Lloyd) Miller and 2 nephews. Growing up, Lucille attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Sand Prairie, IL. Most of her adult life she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She lived a long and happy life, doing what she loved best-keeping a home for her husband and family. She and her husband traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean.

Lucille will be laid to eternal rest beside her husband and eldest son in Pekin, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Lucille to St. Elizabeths Way, https://stelizabethsway.org/.
