Listen to Obituary

Lester L. Rittenhouse, 61, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 3, 1960, he was a son of the late Thomas Rittenhouse, Sr. and Thelma (Turcan) Rittenhouse.

Lester worked with his family at Curry Donuts as a baker for many years, and was also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre

Lester’s greatest passion in life involved building custom cars. He built them his own way and didn’t follow any rules. From hot rods, to flame throwers, and even a coffin car.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Roman, his cats, Franklin, Daryl, Roscoe, and Gizmo and his dog, Baby, who passed away recently. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dolly Oldziejewski, Maxine Concert and Laverne Rittenhouse; brothers, Lloyd (Wiggy) and Thomas Rittenhouse.

Lester is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Calimeres) Rittenhouse; daughter, Athena Rittenhouse and companion, Paul Lunski; son, George Rittenhouse; grandson, Roman; brothers, George Rittenhouse and wife, Diane and Bert Rittenhouse and wife, Gayle; his brother from another mother Sean McCabe; mother-in-law, Marina Calimeres; sister-in-law, Sandy Craig and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dr. Horovick and Dr. Saidman’s offices and the hospice nurses from Bayada, Charlene and Cheryl.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. A Trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
