Laing T. Batchler, III, 52, of Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, July 10, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre on Sept. 22, 1963, he was a son of Laing T. Batchler, II and Jacquie (Evans) White. After graduating high school, Laing served in the United States Navy. Laing loved watching basketball and football and was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, Laing is survived by his wife, Mary (Simpson) Batchler; son, Laing T. Batchler, IV and his wife, Heather; daughters, Jessica and Tosha Batchler; grandchildren, Marissa Batchler, Laing T. Batchler, V and Amelia Southerland; brother, Tim Batchler; stepbrothers, Kenny and Larry Kunkle; sisters, Jacquie Roat-Yachera, Gini Quinn, Lori Overfield and Carrie Batchler and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, July 15 at 6:45 P.M. from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be Father Charlie Warwick from St. Clement/St. Peter Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may visit from 5 P.M. until the service.
