Karen Priscilla Hogan, 71, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 6, at  Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born on October 2, 1943 in Tunkhannock, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Grace C. (Green) Hogan.

Karen graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1961.  She worked for Luzerne County Recorder of Deeds for over 20 years.  Karen also volunteered for the American Red Cross, Hanover Township and was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 834, Nanticoke.

Karen enjoyed doing crafts, reading and traveling, especially with her great niece, Ashleigh, with whom she resided for 10 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by;

five brothers, John C., Robert, Edward, Samuel and David.

Surviving are her sister: Barbara Hyman, Wilkes-Barre; brothers: Gerald A. Hogan, Wilkes-Barre , Richard A. Hogan and his wife, Karen, San Luis Obispo, CA, Kenneth D., Tunkhannock; numerous nieces &nephews, and her FIRST friend, Susan Kropa Morris, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 12 P.M. from Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Pastor James Howell officiating.   Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to M.O.A. Prescription Assistance Fund, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704 or Celtic Hospice, 601 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, Pa 18704

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Dr. Edward Carey & staff, Dr. David Greenwald & staff, all the nurses and aides that came to the house,  and Celtic Hospice & staff, especially Paula, for all the care and support they provided.
