Joseph Lewis, 97, formerly of New Hancock St, Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing, South Meade St, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a resident for the past 2 years.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Alfred and Mary (Ulichney) Lewis. Joseph was an Army Veteran of World War II. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Armour Meats and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Harris) Lewis in July of 1995; brothers, Henry, Alfred, Thomas, and William; and sisters, Ann Jones and Margaret Reilly.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Allied Services, where he was known as Uncle Joe, for all the care they gave him.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:30 PM at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Officiating will be Father Nash.
Family and friends may visit from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.
