John L. Oxford, 76, of Wilkes Barre, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at home.

Born on May 27, 1946, in Parrott, GA, he was a son of the late Napoleon Gabson and Arcola Oxford.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded by a brother, Wallace Myers.

One of 13 children, John was an avid race car fan and loved anything sports related. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pittston.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shirley (Nottingham) Oxford; children, Karen, Lisa, Brenda and Roslyn; stepchildren, Duane, Shelley, Lisa, Rosiland, Melody, Jeff, and Christopher; 20 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 465 S. Main St. Wilkes Barre, on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 12:00 PM, with The Reverend James Breese officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will be privately held in St. Mary’s cemetery, Hanover Township.
