John S. Gruttadauria, 76, formerly of Pittston Township, passed away on Sunday morning, November 5, at Wesley Village, Pittston.

Born in Pittston, on May 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Sam and Carrie (Galante) Gruttadauria.

After high school, John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  John retired from Intermetro, Wilkes-Barre after 30 years.

John was the former president of the Yatesville Bocce Club.  He always had a love for music and loved playing the drums with his band Al and the Royal Diamonds. John will be remembered for his joking manner and good sense of humor.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first.

In addition to his parents; John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty (Warunek) Gruttadauria.

He is survived by; a son, John and his wife, Helen, of Duryea, and two grandchildren, Jordan and Ryan Gruttadauria, a sister, Helen “Rachel” Fisher, a sister in law, Joan Jacksina and brother in law Ronald Warunek.

The family would like to thank our family and friends for all their support and help. They would also like to thank the staff of Wesley Village for the wonderful care provided to John.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Friday at 8:00 P.M. with Father Jackson Pinhero, OSJ, officiating at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 Main Street, Avoca.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM till the time of the service.

Private Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 29 New Commerce Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.
