Jennifer A. “Nena” Fernandez, 32, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Houston, TX, on July 27, 1986, she was a daughter of Maria Irene Fernandez, Wilkes-Barre. Nena graduated high school in Long Island, NY and later worked for Morgan Advanced Materials, Hanover Twp.

Nena’s greatest joy in her life was her children. She was a loving and dedicated mother who was full of life and enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was an avid football fan and also liked to plant flowers.

As an organ donor, Nena’s generous and caring spirt will continue to live on through others.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Chavarria.

In addition to her mother, left to cherish her memory are husband, Francisco Rodriguez; sons, Xavier and Francisco, Jr.; daughters, Alyssa and Madisyn; all of Wilkes-Barre, and sisters, Erika and Karla Aragon.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26th, 10:00 A.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St. Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be Father Verespy. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Family and friends may visit Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and especially Dr. Agarwal for the exceptional care and support they received during this difficult time.
