Jeanette Algiere

Jeanette Pignataro Algiere, 94, of Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 24, 2025, in Mountain Top, PA. She was born on November 26, 1930, in Port Chester, NY to the late Antonio and Bambina Pignataro, originally of Cosenza, Italy.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Michael John Algiere; her sister, Mary LiMarzi; and her brother, Angelo Pignataro.

A devoted parishioner of St. Thomas More Church in Darien, Jeanette lived a life rooted in faith. She was also an avid reader and a proud member of the Darien Library. She found joy in cooking for her loved ones, tending her garden, sewing, and knitting. She also worked for over twenty years as a valued employee in the banking industry.

Jeanette is survived by her three children and their spouses: Michelle and Stephen Hill of Mountain Top, PA; Diane and Dr. Thomas Hanlon of Mountain Top, PA; and Michael and Sally Jane Algiere of Milford, CT. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer and Lenny Melendez, Maj. Michael and Melissa Hanlon, Kevin Hanlon, Timothy and Amber Hanlon, Christopher and Courteney Algiere, and Brian and Allison Algiere. Jeanette was also a proud and loving great-grandmother to Joey, Lucas, Kade, Luke, Jack, and William.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 1 pm at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien, CT.
